Adega de Vila Real is a renowned wine cooperative located in the heart of Portugal’s stunning Douro Valley, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious wine regions (UNESCO World Heritage site). Founded in 1950s, it unites over 1,200 member grape growers, representing hundreds of local families and emphasizing sustainable, traditional viticulture with low mechanization.
The winery focuses on authentic DOC Douro wines, including reds, whites, rosés, and Port, crafted from native grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Viosinho, and Malvasia. Its flagship offerings, like the Reserva series and young, fruit-forward reds, showcase intense aromas of ripe black fruits, spices, and floral notes, with modern yet terroir-driven profiles. Recognized as an “up-and-coming” producer and awarded “Best Cooperative Winery in Portugal” in 2013 by Revista de Vinhos, Adega de Vila Real combines community spirit, quality craftsmanship, and the unique Douro terroir to produce expressive, award-winning wines.
