Encostas do Bairro White

Adega Cooperativa do Cartaxo is a prominent Portuguese wine cooperative located in the Tejo wine region, one of the country’s oldest and most traditional wine areas, about 55 km north of Lisbon. Founded in 1954 by a group of 22 visionary grape growers, it has grown significantly over the decades—now covering around 800 hectares of vineyards and involving more than 200 partners. The winery celebrates over 70 years of history in 2024-2025, rooted in a region with wine production dating back to the 10th century.
Adega do Cartaxo specializes in high-quality, authentic Tejo DOC wines—including reds, whites, rosés, and sparkling—made primarily from native Portuguese grape varieties such as Castelão, Trincadeira, Aragonez, Fernão Pires, and Arinto. Its portfolio features excellent value-for-money wines like the Bridão Reserva series, CTX range, and everyday options that balance fruit-forward freshness, structure, and regional typicity. Known for combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, the cooperative emphasizes sustainability (recently certified in 2025) and has earned recognition for quality and consistency, making it a reference producer in the Tejo sub-region of Cartaxo.
